Alissa completed her Masters of Social Work with a Clinical Focus on Children, Youth, and Families at the University of Southern California (USC) and she received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Social Justice and Inequalities at Loyola University New Orleans. Born in South Central-Crenshaw District of Los Angeles, California, Alissa currently works as a Mental Health Therapist at the University of San Diego. Her Clinical Focus includes Black/African American, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and First Generation college students, Antiracism and exploration of racial trauma on college campuses, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Transitioning and Life Adjustment support, Management of Stress, Anger, Anxiety, Depression symptoms, and students seeking support through sexuality and gender identity development. She is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and owner of Alissa Young Consulting Services, LLC, where she offers college coaching support to students and parents of college students.
