Oftentimes, it takes an unusual or traumatic circumstance to convince us to take a closer look within. Once we develop the courage and the patience to do this, the beauty of vulnerability can truly emerge. In today's episode, we have Licensed Master Social Worker and founder of Black Girl Seen, Ms. Kalyn Wilson! This University of Georgia graduate discusses the value of being vulnerable and authentic while navigating as a means of healing. Inspired by the work of Black feminists, Audre Lorde and bell hooks, as well as the research of Brene Brown, Kalyn shares ways to practice vulnerability and embrace rest as resistance, so that your cup remains full. Kalyn completed her Master of Social Work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her graduate clinical training at Duke University. In addition to being the founder of Black Girl Seen, a platform designed to help young Black women heal through vulnerability, Kalyn also serves as a therapist in university mental health. She focuses on helping students achieve success while navigating concerns related to identity, self esteem, trauma and relationships.
