How often do you push yourself to the limit? Are you willing to find out what you’re truly capable of? If so, Lance Corporal Cameron Crate will inspire you to do just that. This St. Charles West High School graduate pursued the Marine Corps Enlistment Option Program one year ago to jump start his career in the military band as a Marine Percussionist. Recently, he was a featured student on the Marine Detachment, Naval School of Music Facebook Page. In this episode, Lance Corporal Crate shares how the Marine Corps dramatically changed his mind, body and soul. He encourages you to recognize the mental game of life, so that you never give up on yourself. Lance Corporal Crate graduated from St. Charles West High School, where he performed in his high school marching band, jazz band, and as the drummer for the Mercy Seat Baptist Church since the age of 15. He was also the recipient of the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award for two years in a row. He studied with Ben Meyer of St. Charles West High School, Jim Widner and Gary Hobbs of the Jim Widner Big Band, Gary Brandes of University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Ron Jackson of the St. Louis Youth Art and Technology Music Center. Lance Corporal Crate will soon be graduating from the Naval School of Music in Virginia and moving on to his permanent duty station in Quantico Marine Band.
