In honor of Suicide Prevention Month, we want to help you identify resources and proven strategies to alleviate any feelings of isolation or hopelessness. In this week’s episode, we are joined by LaKisha Johnson, Director of Mental Heath for the Los Angeles Unified School District. Ms. Johnson shares how she addresses disproportionalities in her school district by implementing culturally centered conversations that build trust among students and adults. Find out how to recognize adults who truly have your best interest at heart. Ms. Johnson completed her Master of Social Work at University of Southern California (USC), and received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare at University of California, Berkeley. She is committed to helping people uncover, discover, and recover. Uncover and remove the shame to let their light shine, discover their purpose and make their mark in the Earth, and recover from emotional wounds. Her goal is to create safe and healing spaces so that the LA Unified youth can access their education. To learn more about Ms. Johnson and her work, connect with her on LinkedIn or visit School Mental Health at LAUSD.org.
