For our final episode of this limited series, 'Honoring Veterans', Hospital Corpman 3rd Class, Kofi Osei-Boateng shares the benefits of joining the Navy for those who may be pursuing Nursing. As a medic, he explains the various duties and responsibilities available in this branch. Currently, this Penn State graduate enjoys serving as a Navy Counselor to inform and inspire others to consider a career in the Navy. HM3 Osei-Boateng was initially stationed in the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, where he excelled in performing his duties and made the team lead in ICU as a junior HM. During his time in Bethesda, he received many awards to include a letter of commendation from the White House medical team. Upon completion of his two years in Bethesda, he was transferred to Marine Corps Base, Quantico where he served at the Basic School for Marine Corps Officer Training School. Within a year of serving at TBS Quantico, he was promoted to Hospital Corpsman Third Class. His work ethics and dedication to service made him a viable asset to his medical Units. Two years into his tour, HM3 was reassigned to the Marine Corps Martial Art of Excellence as an independent Corpsman where he received among many his Grey Belt certification in martial Arts and leadership skills and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
