21. Discover the Value of the Army ROTC with Colonel (Ret.) Teresa Townsend

Many men and women are thriving in their careers, as a result of being military officers. In today’s episode on Veteran’s Day, we honor Colonel (Ret.) Teresa Townsend, who was recently inducted into the Tuskegee University ROTC Hall of Fame as a Charter Member. This Tuskegee Institute (University) graduate and Full Bird Colonel discusses the many benefits of participating in the JROTC or College ROTC Programs on your campus. Whether you plan to enlist in the military or pursue a career of your choice, she explains how the ROTC can help you develop leadership and discipline skills for the workplace. As a woman in a male dominated field, Colonel (Ret.) Townsend surpassed many obstacles and she shares how those challenges helped her reach her highest potential. Colonel (Ret.) Townsend completed her M.Ed. in Secondary Education at Alabama A&M University, her Bachelor of Arts in English at Tuskegee Institute (University), and her Certification in Educational Leadership from Troy University. This Silver Star member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. served thirty years in the Army as a Logistics Officer specializing in the field of Equal Opportunity and Diversity Management. As Colonel, she deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn. She is currently the Senior Army Instructor at Daleville High School in Daleville, Alabama, making her the first woman ever to lead the school’s JROTC Program. Colonel Townsend is a member of Daleville Christian Fellowship Worship Center, volunteers extensively in her community and was named Enterprise, Alabama's Woman of the Year for 2016.
