It's Sexual Assault Awareness Month and as quiet as it's kept, confidential resources are abound on campuses all over the country. In today's episode, upcoming UCLA graduate and the 2021-2022 Student Wellness Commissioner, Tayloneei Jackson joins us to share how her mother inspired her passion for reproductive justice in the OB/GYN field of study, along with some of the amazing resources on her campus for assault survivors. As the founder of the UCLA 'You Belong Here' Campaign, Tayloneei discusses the importance of acknowledging feelings of imposter syndrome, while also encouraging survivors whose agency over their bodies was not respected. Tayloneei is a fourth-year pre-medical undergraduate student studying Human Biology and Society with a minor in Global Health at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In addition to serving as the Student Wellness Commissioner, she is the co-founder and Women & Community Health Chair of Melanin & Medicine at UCLA. Passionate about reproductive/maternal health, Tayloneei also works with a team of passionate medical providers to build a lactation clinic in South LA and uses revenue from her small jewelry business to donate to reproductive justice grassroots organizations. Outside of her usual UCLA responsibilities, Tayloneei volunteers weekly in a reproductive health mobile clinic in South LA and works part-time as a Health & Wellness Coach at an OBGYN clinic as well as a Sexual Health Educator at Black Women for Wellness.
