Being Black in America is an experience in itself. But being Black and queer in America, and in the world for that matter takes tremendous courage. In honor of Pride Month and all of the lives taken, as a result of hate and bigotry, we celebrate the ‘courageous’ with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Danielle Samuel. Danielle shares how she navigated through being accepted by others to ultimately discover the love she has for herself. She encourages you to seek personal fulfillment within and through community support on campus. Danielle completed her MS in Counseling with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy at California State University-Northridge. She received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at San Jose State University. As an educator and advocate, she strives to maintain social justice and a client-centered approach. Danielle understands that problems seldom exist in a bubble and that more often than not they are a direct reflection of our upbringing, past trauma, our environment, and/or experiences of marginalization.
