As we wrap up Getting Financially Fit for Financial Literacy Month, we are joined by the State of Utah's Policy and Communications Deputy, Dr. Brittany Griffin. Utah was one of the top states for bankruptcy and debt many years ago. As a result, policy makers decided to mandate financial literacy for its graduating high school students. 'Finance in the Classroom' is an online resource that was formed with students in mind. Today, many educators and community members use this website for its valuable information. Find out what national organizations Dr. Griffin recommends for you to partner with in your state to improve your financial habits and learn how these resources are making a huge difference in the financial lives of students across the country. Dr. Griffin completed her Doctorate in Public Administration at West Chester University of Pennsylvania and her MS in Political Science and Government at University of Utah. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism at University of Montana. As the Policy and Communications Deputy for the Treasurer of the State of Utah, she is responsible for facilitating the office's financial empowerment initiatives. Dr. Griffin is a foster and adoptive mom and her prior experience included working in local government, academia, marketing, and television news.
