Losing a loved one can cause you to question the purpose of life. You can either run from the pain of loss or use it to empower you to be everything your loved one knew you could be. In honor of the first day of Black History Month, we celebrate Award-winning Actress, Vocalist and Teaching Artist, Roz White. Ms. White shares how the loss of her mother has empowered her to heal and step boldly into the next phase of her life. This multi-hyphenate artist is currently portraying Zelma Bullock, the mother of a legend on the first national tour of TINA - The Tina Turner Musical. Find out how she stays connected to self while serving her community with her massive talent on stages across America. Ms. White recently completed her Master of Education in Curriculum, Instruction and Teacher Leadership at Northcentral University. She received her BFA in Theatre Arts at Howard University and was crowned as Miss Howard in 1992 and Miss Collegiate African American in 1994. Ms. White is a graduate of The Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where she has served as a faculty member. She was also as an Adjunct Professor at Howard University. As a professional artist, she also starred as Louise in August Wilson’s Seven Guitars at Arena Stage and Odessa in James Baldwin’s The Amen Corner at Shakespeare Theatre in Washington, DC. Currently, she is serving as Musical Director for the Children’s book-turned play-The Hula Hooping Queen at Imagination Stage.
