This week, in honor of our veterans and in observance of Veterans Day 2020, we will celebrate distinguished individuals who have retired or still serve in one of the five branches. Today, Major (Ret.) Samuel Moore of the U.S. Air Force shares the advantages of earning your college degree while in the military. The U.S. Air Force offers the only accredited associate degree program in the military and he encourages you to pursue a four year degree to become an officer. This Southern Illinois University Carbondale graduate went on to serve thirty years as a Meteorologist before he retired and he wants you to consider the many benefits available to you while serving your country. Major (Ret.) Moore completed his MA in Management at Webster University, his Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and his AS in Meteorology at the Community Community of The Air Force. He enjoys serving as a mentor and role model to many in his church and community. Currently, he is a contractor at the Army Command and General Staff College, in their Distance Education Division. He is also a regular and faithful volunteer at the Leavenworth Interfaith Community of Hope Homeless Shelter and the Fort Leavenworth Unites States Disciplinary Barracks Prison Ministry.
