Whoa! This episode is gonna lift you UPl! We already know how to struggle, and we've already mastered the skill of overcoming. But what about mastering the art of REAL love, joy and rest within ourselves as exemplified by our ancestors? Happy New Year and Happy Belated Kwanzaa! In the first episode of 2021, I thought of only this woman to help launch us into a great new year! Dr. Stacey Chimimba Ault, affectionately known as Mama Stacey. This Sacramento State University graduate shares some of the grounding practices that help remind her how important it is to be there for herself. In this episode, she encourages us to recall the wisdom of our ancestors and celebrate intentional love from within our own communities. Dr. Ault (she, her, dr.) completed her Doctorate of Education in International and Multicultural Education with an emphasis in Human Rights Education at the University of San Francisco. She received her MA in Social Work and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at Sacramento State University. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Social Work at Sacramento State University. This community engaged scholar has over 25 years’ experience working with children, youth and families; especially those most marginalized through exploitation and incarceration. Dr. Ault’s research focuses on Critical Post Traumatic Growth and the intersections of Blackness, resistance, joy and healing. She is a certified professional coach, national speaker and the Founder/CEO of The Race and Gender Equity Project. Originally from the UK, “Mama Stacey” lives in Sacramento, CA and has six children & three grandchildren. To learn more about her work and The R.A.G.E.
